Healthcare Systems - A Key to the Success of the Human Race

Healthcare, health care, or healthcare services is the improvement or maintenance of health through the diagnosis, prevention, treatment, healing, rehabilitation, or prevention of illness, disease, injury, or other physical and psychological disabilities in humans. Healthcare is delivered through medical practitioners in different allied health disciplines. These health disciplines may include physicians, surgeons, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, podiatrists, physical therapists, acupuncturists, and psychologists. Different healthcare programs are available in different parts of the world. Healthcare systems are developed for different countries according to their needs and lifestyles. The most common forms of healthcare services are preventive care and therapeutic care. Healthcare systems also provide outpatient and residential care. Healthcare services can be provided at different levels, depending on the severity of the illnesses, disabilities, conditions, and diseases. This can include public, private, social service or rehabilitation. Public healthcare is generally provided by governmental organizations, and private healthcare services are offered by private agencies, including hospitals, physicians' clinics, nursing homes, home health agencies, hospice facilities, rehabilitation centers, pharmacies, doctors' offices, clinics, outpatient care centers, skilled nursing, assisted living communities, etc. For a patient, there may be different types of healthcare, depending on the type of illness. For example, a person suffering from diabetes needs a different type of healthcare service than a person suffering from an eye problem. A person who lacks healthcare may become disabled and/or incur medical expenses, which will need to be paid for by the government, as part of the overall healthcare system. In addition, there is also a possibility of financial crisis for some patients with disabilities that are not managed properly and effectively. The medical costs and the services rendered by healthcare providers are paid by the governments or the insurance companies. Private clinics and health organizations are generally responsible for arranging for care, when the government does not provide it. However, in case of emergency and crisis, there is always the possibility of financial assistance from government or from a private source. Health insurance plans are generally made to cover the medical costs of individuals in terms of healthcare providers, hospitals, surgeries, prescriptions, X-ray services, medicines, etc. The cost of healthcare services are very high in many countries, due to the complex nature of the medical conditions and the wide range of services offered. It is also a major cause of economic decline in some countries. Some countries spend more than 85 percent of their GDP on health care. The cost of healthcare varies from country to country, as a result of different circumstances, factors, like demographics, lifestyle and environment. Various types of healthcare services are provided by private institutions, such as hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, clinics, hospitals, outpatient care centers, and the like. There are many non-profit organizations providing healthcare services in many developing countries. They help improve the standard of healthcare by setting up rehabilitation centers, free medical camps, educating and promoting the use of new technology, etc. In many developing countries, some people are able to go for public health care through the services of the government. In addition, in some cases, there are private institutions, like the United Nations World Food Program, who help alleviate the burden of the need for public health care. In developed countries, government health systems have set the standards of healthcare. The quality of healthcare services is low and people's need for these services is high. The number of hospitals, clinics, doctors' clinics, specialists and so on vary depending on the location, availability of resources, and the amount of need. Some developed countries have a national health care insurance plan, while in others, there is a national system for public health care.
